Gibbon: Beyond the Trees is a hand-drawn adventure following a lost gibbon as they embark on a dangerous journey into unknown lands exploring the beautiful wilderness and learning about the destructive force of human civilisation.
I had many responsibilities during the project which included; art directing an art team, creating concept art, creating in-game assets, designing characters, creating storyboards, designing UI and logos. I was brought onto the project when the game was still in prototype phase and initially I worked with the Broken Rules team to create concept art and a direction for the visuals. I created art assets for the game and developed a colour palette that favoured communicating gameplay and emotional moods that supported the narrative.
During the development my jobs also included overseeing the art implementation, collaborating with a variety of art disciplines, planning meetings with the art team and giving feedback on completed work.
